About Mount Olivet Episcopal Church:

Mount Olivet Episcopal Church was founded in 1846 on Algiers Point, the 2nd oldest neighborhood in New Orleans, directly across the Mississippi river from Jackson Square. The church itself was built in 1854 and has held services continuously since then. We still use the marble Holy Table from which first Confederate soldiers and then Union soldiers, after the city surrendered, received communion during the Civil War. We are an active part of life on Algiers Point and in the city of New Orleans, always looking for ways to serve our neighbors and share the gospel with those who are seeking good news and good fellowship.

Our new parish hall, Meade Hall, where we hold our cooking schools, was constructed in 2010 using stained glass windows and doors from the 1894 church which was built on that site but later had to be demolished. Contributions to the development fund go to defray the cost of that construction.
